Practice Makes Perfect
One of the things I am learning over here in Barbados is that the truly great teams have incredible routines that just helps them keep doing the awesome stuff they do over and over again.
The routine is not simply hitting and bowling the ball. The Tridents have really been accommodating with all their services. Once we get to training it is straight into the locker room for some stretching with the team physiotherapist and then into the nets.
One of the most amazing personalities on the Tridents squad is Shoaib Malik, the star Pakistani batsman. He has taught me a lot about not judging others and of course about cricket. Both he and Robin Singh (the coach) were on hand to give me tips with both my batting and my bowling. It is this invaluable knowledge that will hopefully stand me in great stead when it comes to qualifying.
On Day 3 there was a distinct focus on the American Cricketers with myself, Japen Patel and the others arriving for training before the team arrived. Robin spent a considerable time with us on our batting.
It was then one of the highlights of the trip. A practice game. Yes, I was in the starting XI and was captained by Kieron Pollard. Needless to say that our team won the warm-up match. And let us hope that winning is the way it stays for the Tridents and Team USA.
Till the next report,
